South Cumbria’s Largest Independent Cycle Store with Bikes on Three Floors
The Topmark cycle store opened in 1974 as a Windsurfing store and started selling bikes in 1985 when Bill Nickson introduced a range of Mountain Bikes. The store was located next door to the family’s other wholesale business for forty years with the single fronted store extending onto a 2nd floor which became the mountain bike room, then when bike sales increased it became a small room for windsurfing stock. With the popularity of road cycling increasing rapidly, Topmark created a cycle showroom on another level and phased out water sports completely, however the store still wasn’t large enough to stock their expanding range of bikes.
In 2014 Topmark began a major refit of the store. The wholesale business next door was used to expand the cycle store into that floor space. The expansion was completed with as little disruption as possible for existing customers as work was completed behind an adjoining wall creating a new showroom, reception area and large workshop with four work stations and even a walk-in bike wash!
Topmark are now also able to offer a dedicated area for women’s cycles, clothing and accessories on the ground floor. On the first floor you’ll find a MTB room and road, hybrid and gravel bikes are on the top floor, which also incorporates a bike fitting room.
